Doctors that work in intensive care units are often known as critical care doctors. In the intensive care unit, critical care doctors give the majority of direct care to patients in life-threatening conditions. For example, ICU doctors offer care to patients with heart illness and brain traumas as well as accident victims and patients recuperating from difficult procedures that require a lot of nursing support.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
They must be able to perform a wide range of high-level nursing tasks. Intensive care doctors need to be experts in evaluating intensive care patients, recognizing problems, administering treatment, and coordinating with other members of the critical care team, among other skills. In addition to interpersonal communication and leadership, successful critical care doctors excel in strategic planning, decision-making, and critical thinking.
