Doctors working in critical care must monitor patients in very unstable physical circumstances, thus they are only accountable for one or two patients at a given time.
ICU doctors are highly competent and have the particular experience to quickly assess a patient’s health and act with prompt treatment if necessary. You push the frontiers of medical treatment while simultaneously helping people cope with diseases that cannot be cured.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
They may work with preterm newborns in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), children in the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU), or elderly patients in a high-level cardiac care unit as part of their tasks (CICU). In addition to handling different life-support systems, the ICU doctor may also be responsible for administering precise medicine dosages and monitoring the heart. The doctor must be able to communicate effectively and empathize with others in order to be successful in this career.
PRE-REQUISITES FOR THE POSITION
- A minimum of one (2) year of experience in critical care
